Growth Monitoring: Growth Charts (UK WHO) 2-18 Years


Purpose

To update practitioners with an overview of the WHO-UK 2-18 Years growth charts and growth monitoring within this age group to support the delivery of the Healthy Child Health Future programme (2010),  the Regional Guidance and Standards for Community Nurses & Midwives (2015), the DHSSPS Child Measurement Programme (2013-2014) and the Faltering Growth NICE guidance (75, 2018)

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss and describe the (UK- WHO) 2-18 Growth Chart Features: Adult height predictor, Parent height comparator, Body Mass Index (BMI) and use of the grid, Growth pattern during puberty
  • Identify the  procedure for measurement technique, plotting and interpretation of centile findings
  • Consider Indicators for Referral when concerned
  • Discuss their role within the delivery of the Healthy Child Health Future programme (2010),  the Regional Guidance and Standards for Community Nurses & Midwives (2015), the DHSSPS Child Measurement Programme (2013-2014) and the Faltering Growth NICE guidance (75, 2018)
