Bereavement & Loss in Midwifery Practice


Purpose

The aim of the study day is to explore bereavement, grief and loss within midwifery practice.

Learning Outcomes
  • Describe the theories and reactions of bereavement, grief and loss
  • Explain the importance of effective communication skills in caring for grieving parents
  • Discuss the impact of person centred care on the parents experience during the grieving process
  • Recognise and explore the importance of self-care and professional support mechanisms for yourself and others in the healthcare team
