Venesection (Adult)


Purpose

To facilitate participants in the development of the appropriate knowledge to safely perform venesection on a patient.

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss Haemochromatosis and its management. 
  • Discuss Venesection and how it is performed safely.
  • Identify some of the key aspects of the patient’s experience in living with Haemochromatosis.
  • Outline how venesection supervised practice can be achieved in clinical practice areas.

Method

Online or face to face delivery

To complete this programme online you must join using a device which has a functioning camera and microphone.

Supervised Practice

Following this theoretical component the participant must engage with an appropriate skilled practitioner, in his/her clinical area, to further develop a greater knowledge and understanding of this person-centred care activity. This will involve supervised practice in Venesection, which should be completed within 12 weeks to consolidate learning and application to practice.  It is the responsibility of the individual participant to complete this activity and to confirm completion with his/her line manager.
