Breastfeeding: Successful Breastfeeding & Relationship Building: Update


Purpose

To enable participants to enhance and update their existing knowledge in the promotion and maintenance of breastfeeding and nurturing responsive mother baby relationships.

Learning Outcomes
  • Review current Northern Ireland (N.I) breastfeeding rates.
  • Examine regional initiatives to influence the uptake and sustainability of breastfeeding.
  • Explore ways to support responsive mother and baby relationships.
  • Reflect on knowledge, skills and practices to support a mother to get breastfeeding off to a good start and to maintain lactation if mother and baby are separated or if her baby is reluctant to feed.
  • Discuss how to support responsive and safe feeding practices for mothers and the challenges they may face.

Health professionals supporting women to breastfeed.
