Purpose

To develop or refresh participants knowledge about safe drug administration to children.

Learning Outcomes

• Outline HCP accountability in ensuring safe medicine management to children and young people, incorporating duty of candour, human factors, effective communication, leadership and record keeping
• Review the procedure for safe administration of medicines
• Explore and discuss points at which medication incidents are likely to occur and how to avoid them
• Review drug calculations
