Purpose

To  promote a person centred approach in understanding the causative factors of a person’s distressed behaviour in clinical practice

Learning Outcomes
  • Explore the use of current terminology
  • Outline strategic drivers which have shaped the care provision for people who become distressed while receiving clinical care
  • Reflect on the role of the healthcare professional in utilising the Person Centred Framework to deliver evidence based practice in the care of the distressed person
  • Outline approaches to care and support for the person and staff members   
  • Investigate possible barriers and enablers to compassionate communication
