Alcohol and Substance Misuse - An Introduction

Purpose

To provide an introduction to the delivery of person centred care for those presenting with alcohol and/or substance misuse. 

Learning Outcomes

• Cite strategic drivers which have shaped the care provision for people presenting to service with alcohol and/ or substance misuse in NI
• Recognise factors which may contribute to a person’s alcohol and/or substance misuse
• Reflect on the role of the healthcare professional in utilising the Person Centred Framework to deliver evidence based practice 
• Explore the categories of substances which can be misused 
• Identify the physical, psychological and behavioural effects of alcohol and substance misuse
