Skin Cancer Management


Purpose

To enable participants to develop knowledge on the care of a patient with skin cancer and how it may be prevented, detected and treated.

Learning Outcomes
  • Outline local and national guidelines for the prevention, diagnosis and treatment of skin cancers
  • Identify the epidemiology, diagnostic investigations and staging in skin cancer
  • Discuss the therapeutic interventions in the management  of skin cancer and related symptoms
  • Describe the signs of skin cancer, particularly melanoma
  • Outline the management of the person with skin cancer from both dermatology and plastic surgery perspectives
  • Identify the histopathology of the skin
  • Provide an overview of the multi-professional team involved in the care of this patient group
