Suicide Prevention NI: A Regional Care Pathway Approach

Purpose

To support a competent, confident, and caring mental health workforce for Suicide Prevention in NI.

Learning Outcomes

• Outline the epidemiology and cultural risk factors for suicide in NI and discuss the significance of this for clinical practice.
• Review the Integrated Motivational-Volitional (IMV) Model to enhance understanding of the behaviours and motivations associated with suicide
• Reflect on the philosophy and culture outlined in the Towards Zero Suicide prevention model and reflect on the impact of personal values and attitudes about suicide on clinical practice
• Define the key aspects of the Chronological Assessment of Suicide Events (CASE) and practice the skills outlined in the framework to enhance engagement and assessment of suicide ideation
• Reflect on SafeSide© Prevention eLearning and apply the prevention orientated risk formulation to practice
• Identify the key aspects of emotional safety for practitioners when working in suicide prevention for mental health
