Purpose

To enable the learner to develop a broad knowledge base in Palliative and End of Life Care.

Learning Outcomes
  • Develop an understanding of the concept and reality of person-centred palliative and end of life care
  • Discuss the therapeutic interventions in the management of symptoms in a person who requires palliative and end of life care.
  • Explore the physical, psychological, social and sexual aspects of care for a person and their family.
  • Discuss the importance of multidisciplinary team collaboration in the care and management of a person requiring palliative and end of life care.
  • Outline the needs of relatives and staff caring for a person in the palliative / end stage of illness and into bereavement.
