Regional AAC Pathway and Local Trust’s Text Based Provision (Session 2)


Purpose

This training will focus on Trust based SLTs AAC Management of Adults and Children who rely on spelling to communicate. It will focus on the areas of the Regional AAC Pathway and Decision Tree related to AAC assessment and provision for people with literacy skills.

Learning Outcomes
  • Understand who can be referred to CAC and who should be managed within Trust based SLT services.
  • Knowledge of the range of solutions available to meet literacy based AAC needs.
  • Evaluation of paper based, hard and software options to meet literacy based AAC needs.
Audience

Any SLT involved in the delivery or supervision of AAC intervention with people with literacy skills. This includes SLTs working in both Adult and Paediatric services.

Method

Part 1 - Virtual workshop/practical tasks to test decision making

Part 2 – Optional live hands on session (CAC Centre, Regional Disablement Services, Musgrave Park Hospital)
