To gain confidence in providing nutritional care to the cancer patient prior to and post treatment (chemotherapy, immunotherapy, radiotherapy or surgery) for both radical and palliative patients.
• Discussion of the causes and contributing factors of malnutrition and nutrition related problems requiring intervention from a diagnosis of cancer.
• Understand the nutritional consequences resulting from treatments, chemo, radiotherapy and surgery.
• The role of the dietitian in treating patients with a cancer diagnosis, radical and palliative.
• Employment of food first strategies to reduce supplement use.
• Identify when enteral feeding should be considered in patients and the steps in transitioning from enteral to oral for diagnosis such as UGI and H&N cancers.
