Child and Adolescent Mental Health


Purpose

To raise awareness of mental health issues and concerns of children and young people in all healthcare settings.

Learning Outcomes
  • Be able to analyse and define what is meant by child and adolescent mental health
  • Appraise the prevalence of mental ill-health in children and adolescents in N. Ireland
  • Identify common mental health conditions in the context of child & adolescent presentations
  • Recognise the role of statutory Child & Adolescent Mental Health Services (CAMHS) and the Regional referral pathway
  • Apply knowledge and understanding to identify possible interventions for children & adolescents who are experiencing mental health difficulties
