Regional Supervision Training for Allied Health Professionals (revised May 2024)


Purpose

To develop practitioner’s ability to implement effective supervision by examining the current evidence base, developing their supervision skills and building a toolkit of resources to shape and support supervision practice within in their particular profession and area of work.

Learning Outcomes
  • Explain the functions purpose and benefits of supervision in supporting the work of AHPs
  • Describe the key characteristics of effective supervision
  • Identify and demonstrate core supervision skills
  • Adopt appropriate approaches and models to implement effective supervision according to identified individual and clinical setting needs
  • Apply a range of approaches and techniques to effectively overcome barriers to engagement in the supervision process
  • Recognise the importance of review and evaluation in sustaining effective supervision practice.

All registered AHPs as per Education Commissioned Plan (DOH)

Blended learning

Blended learning incorporating; online learning, lecture, video demonstrations, simulation activities, group discussion.

Duration: This is a 2-part programme – both parts are required for completion of the programme

  • Part 1 eLearning approx. 60 – 90 minutes to complete.  The elearning module that accompanies this workshop should be completed/refreshed no longer than 2 weeks prior to attending the workshop to maximise your learning experience
  • Part 2 Face to face one day workshop using a blend of lecture, discussion, group work, simulation and video analysis.
