Humidified High Flow Air/Oxygen Delivery - An Introduction


Purpose

To introduce participants to the management of the Adult receiving humidified high flow Air / Oxygen via Nasal, Mask/ Tracheal interfaces (e.g. - AIRVO 2™ ).

Learning Outcomes
  • Outline the role and function of High Flow Humidified Therapy (HHFO) therapy via Nasal Cannula (NC) or mask/tracheal interface in the management of the hypoxic adult eg via AIRVO 2 FP®.
  • Discuss the relevant guidelines for setting up, monitoring of HHFO, decontamination & storage of AIRVO 2 FP®.
  • State what the three readings on the AIRVO 2 interface represent and how to adjust.
  • Outline patient and device monitoring, titration and weaning.
  • Outline the contraindication, potential hazards and safety considerations.
  • Discuss alarms, troubleshooting problems and potential solutions.
  • Source Fisher Paykell apps and video resources for AIRVO 2 FP®.
Audience

Registered Nurses, Physiotherapists and Professionally Registered Healthcare Staff.
