Acquired Brain Injury: Working with Children – An Introduction (Level 2 Training in Acquired Brain Injury).


Purpose

To enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence of health and social care professionals in delivering effective, co-ordinated care for children with acquired brain injury (ABI) across a range of settings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme participants will be able to: 

  • identify how children sustain an ABI
  • outline childhood brain development
  • explore typical presentations that might follow an ABI, and how this might present in different settings eg home, classroom etc
  • discuss changing needs of children with developmental stages
  • describe of the importance of collecting relevant information
  • identify regional pathways and signposting options
Audience

All staff working in children’s or adolescent services,  including CAMHS, LAC and core community services.  

Method

Two day programme delivered via presentation, interactive exercises and discussion.
