Acquired Brain Injury: Working with Children : An Introduction (Level 2 Training in Acquired Brain Injury).


Purpose

To enhance the knowledge, skills and confidence of health and social care professionals in delivering effective, co-ordinated care for children with acquired brain injury (ABI) across a range of settings.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme participants will have

  • an understanding of how children sustain an ABI
  • a knowledge of childhood brain development
  • an appreciation of the typical presentations that might follow an ABI, and how this might present in different settings eg home, classroom etc
  • an understanding of the changing needs of children with developmental stages
  • an awareness of the importance of collecting relevant information
  • an improved awareness of regional pathways and signposting options
Audience

All staff working in children’s or adolescent services,  including CAMHS, LAC and core community services.  

Method

Two day programme delivered via presentation, interactive exercises and discussion.
