Purpose

To develop expertise in the Dietetic Assessment and Treatment of Inflammatory Bowel Disease

Learning Outcomes

During the programme you will learn to: 

• Differentiate between the types of IBD and their diagnostic criteria
• Identify the medications used – their interactions and side effects
• Consider the importance of nutritional balance during acute disease state, remission and post surgery
• Recall dietary principles for patients with IBD.
• Refer to current national and international guidelines and standards for the management of IBD.

The course aims to facilitate first time learning regarding IBD and also enhance the knowledge of dietitians that have some experience with IBD patients.

Dietitians at Band 5/6 and above with limited gastroenterology experience
