Palliative Care for Dietitians: An Introduction


Purpose

The purpose of this one-day course is to enhance participants’ knowledge and understanding of person-centred principles in palliative care, support reflection on their roles and responsibilities in delivering nutritional care, and enable the application of an ethical, evidence-informed approach to discussions on clinically assisted nutrition and hydration.

Learning Outcomes
  • To know the importance of nutrition in palliative care
  • Describe common nutritional symptoms and how to manage them
  • Explore ethical discussions around food and fluid at end of life
  • Apply the palliative care approach to nutritional care

  • Dietitians with an interest in palliative care
