Purpose

To update and develop your knowledge and understanding of routine haematological and biochemical blood test results, and the impact of abnormal blood results on patient care.

  • Define normal ranges for blood and electrolyte values in adults
  • Discuss the rationale for routine haematological and biochemical blood tests
  • Develop an understanding of the relationship between physiology and pathology
  • Consider the implications of abnormal blood test results on clinical practice and patient care

Open to Adult Nurses, Midwives and AHP’s who interpret laboratory results as part of their role.
