Sepsis in the Adult


Purpose

To enhance the knowledge and skills in the recognition and effective management of the adult with suspected sepsis. 

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss the pathophysiology of sepsis including at risk groups.
  • Recognise the soft signs and symptoms of sepsis.
  • Analyse changes using A-E assessment and Early Warning Scores.  
  • Apply the Sepsis 6 screening tool and SBAR.
  • Demonstrate via case studies, the prompt recognition, escalation and management of the adult with suspected sepsis. 
Audience

All Health and Social Care staff involved in the care for over 16 years and the Adult.  This programme is not suitable for Neonatal or Children’s nurses and will not cover Obstetric Early Warning Signs.
