Infection Prevention and Control (Tier 1 and Tier 2)


Purpose

To enable participants to reflect on their individual practice, consolidate present knowledge and build on that knowledge to promote sound working practices in relation to infection prevention and control (IPC)

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss legislation, policy and procedures relating to IPC
  • Identify current issues, prevalence of infection and vaccine programmes
  • Outline antimicrobial resistance and stewardship
  • Identify transmission Based Precautions (TBPs), the chain of infection, the human factors 
  • Consider symptoms and impact of infection.
  • Discuss standard IPC precautions and mitigate environmental risks appropriate to role/context
  • Know how to access IPC information, report issues and seek support

All Healthcare Staff working directly with/providing care to patients
