Deteriorating Adult: Simulated Assessment, Intervention and Management


Purpose

To develop the knowledge and skills of participants in the assessment, recognition and management of a deteriorating adult.

Learning Outcomes
  • Analyse the impact of Human Factors on the assessment and management of the deteriorating patient.
  • Explain how to use the ABCDE approach to recognise, assess and plan interventions for patients at risk of deterioration.
  • Integrate the Situation Background Assessment Recommendation (SBAR) communication tool to enable appropriate escalation of care.
  • Demonstrate through simulation, how to apply the ABCDE approach to enable assessment, planning and documentation of appropriate interventions for the deteriorating patient.
Audience

This programme is suitable for hospital based staff (including Registered Nurse, Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Therapeutic Radiographer, Allied Health Professionals (with management approval).

All other staff, please apply for Deteriorating Adult Community: Simulated Assessment, Intervention and Management programme.

Not suitable for Midwifery staff.
