Hyponatraemia in the Adult: An Overview


Purpose

To raise awareness of the nurse's role in the recognition and management of hyponatraemia, in the adult.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of this session, participants will be able to:

  • Outline the pathophysiology and aetiology of hyponatraemia
  • Define hyponatraemia and its classification
  • Discuss the signs/symptoms of and risk factors for hyponatraemia
  • Discuss the nurse/midwives role in hyponatraemia
  • Explore hyponatraemia via SAIs and case studies
  • Evidence the learning in a post session quiz

Registered Nurse, Registered Midwife, Health Visitor, Paramedic, Physiotherapist, Professionally Registered Healthcare Staff, NIAS
