Abortion Care and Regulation


Purpose

To provide an overview of what abortion is and the care required by those requiring this service.  To update staff on new regulations for Northern Ireland in relation to Abortion services.

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss the background, historically and legally to abortion in Northern Ireland up until 2020
  • Consider the personal and professional issues involved with caring for women
  • Explain the role of the medical practitioner in the care of women needing an abortion
  • Discuss an overview of the service in Northern Ireland
  • Explain the regulations regarding care for abortion

Registered Nurses, Registered Midwives, Health Visitors, SCPHN, Senior Nursing Assistants, Nursing Assistants, Maternity Support Workers
