Effective Teaching in Practice

Purpose

To enhance your knowledge and skills to become an effective teacher in practice

Please note -    It is essential that applicants have read Phil Race chapter 2 and completed Honey and Mumford questionnaire prior to attending the course. These will be sent out prior to course commencement.

Learning Outcomes

• Identify theories of adult learning
• Explore different learning styles and their applicability in practice
• Analyse common teaching methods including digitally enhanced learning and the relevance in areas of practice
• Critique the role of assessment and feedback strategies to enhance learning
• Demonstrate and participate in differing teaching strategies in a safe learning environment
• Explore taxonomies to create an aim, learning outcomes and teaching plan
• Critique and review own and peer teaching plans and strategies

Online and/or face to face

Day 1 and Day 2 Online delivery
Day 3 Face to face delivery in classroom environment

Please note -  for programmes delivered online you need to access the programme on a device which has a functioning camera and microphone so that you can fully participate in the class.

Important information

Following completion of the theoretical components, participants are expected to present a time limited teaching session on the final day of the programme. This will be delivered to their fellow participants and subject to peer review. The teaching session should demonstrate application of knowledge and skills taught throughout the effective teaching programme.
