Nutrition & Hydration in Adults with Dysphagia


Purpose

To raise awareness of dysphagia to inform the nutritional intervention, management and ongoing care of adults with swallowing difficulties.

Learning Outcomes

During the programme there will be opportunity to:

  • Explain causes, signs and complications of dysphagia
  • Discuss the nutrition and hydration issues associated with dysphagia- identification and management of these in collaboration with the service user and MDT
  • Develop holistic nutritional care plans by applying strategies to optimise nutritional and fluid intake for each IDDSI Level
  • Participate in practical learning sessions relating to IDDSI Testing for food and fluids
  • Hear from other Healthcare Professionals involved in the diagnosis, treatment and management of dysphagia
  • Discuss ethical considerations relating to dysphagia

All Dietitians working with patients with dysphagia

1 day face to face, taught and practical sessions
