Deteriorating Child: Simulated Recognition, Assessment and Management

Purpose

The aim of the programme is to aid practitioners in development of the skills and knowledge required for the assessment, recognition, management and escalation of the unwell or injured infant/child.

Learning Outcomes

• Explain how human factors and non-technical skills can affect the performance of individuals and teams in healthcare.
• Apply a structured approach during the assessent of unwell or injured infants and children.
• Analyse how to recognise illness or injury in paediatrics.
• Plan and provide effective management during paediatric emergencies.
• Instigate prompt escalation summoning appropriate help.

Registered Nurse, Health Visitor, SCPHN, Diagnostic Radiographer, Paramedic, Therapeutic Radiographer, Physiotherapist

Within the databank and online, pre-reading has been created that you must engage with prior to attending the programme. The QR codes provided refer to key documents or guidelines which may be useful.   This course uses simulation-based education. Keep an electronic version though print if required.  Mobile phones can be used during this programme to access medical apps, guidelines and to aid calculations if required.
