To provide an introduction to Orthopaedic / Fracture trauma nursing and develop participant’s knowledge in caring for this specific patient group.

  • Discuss the anatomy and physiology of bones, joints, fractures and the process of bone healing.
  • Outline some of the treatment options for a fracture
  • Identify potential complications of a fracture
  • Highlight key elements of nursing care required for a trauma or orthopaedic adult surgical patient.
  • Reflect on Person Centred Care you provide as an Orthopaedic / Trauma Nurse.
