Understanding and Tackling Hoarding


Purpose

To equip Occupational Therapists with the skills to tackle all types of hoarding behaviours.

Learning Outcomes
  • Explain hoarding disorder and hoarding as a result of mental health illness
  • Explore treatment options, including the use of Cognitive Behavioural Therapy (CBT) techniques
  • Discuss how to use consistent hoarding assessment and photographs to identify clutter-levels
  • Describe how to set goals/actions within strict timescales and how to deal with difficult clients
  • Identify key partners in the community and the benefits of multi-agency working
Audience

Qualified Occupational Therapists working within Adult Mental Health (Inpatients and Community Settings)
