Domestic Abuse: Gaining an Understanding


Purpose

To provide an update about the extent, severity and relevance of Domestic and Sexual Violence and Abuse to your practice in Health and Social Care. 

Learning Outcomes
  • Recognise and define the different types of domestic and sexual violence and abuse, and discuss their prevalence in NI.
  • Analyse the impact of domestic and sexual violence and abuse on victims.
  • Apply the Northern Ireland Legal Framework in relation to domestic and sexual violence and abuse.
  • Discuss safety planning and available resources / contacts to protect the victim and their children.
  • Recognise the function of Routine Enquiry-Confident to ask – ready to respond.
Audience

All staff working in Health and Social Care.

Method
