Improving the Physical Health of People with a Severe Mental Illness


Purpose

To enhance your knowledge and skills in addressing the physical health of a person with a severe mental illness.

Learning Outcomes
  • Identify the biopsychosocial risk factors associated with developing physical health conditions.
  • Examine the common physical health co-morbidities for people with severe mental illness.
  • Discuss the importance of physical health monitoring to improve outcomes for people with severe mental illness.
  • Recognise some commonly used screening tools that can support health assessments with individuals with severe mental illness.
  • Reflect on the use of brief psychological interventions to support behaviour change.
