Purpose
To enhance the skills of participants in the breaking of bad news.
Learning Outcomes
- Examine the subjective nature of bad news.
- Discuss the role of the health care professional in the breaking bad news process.
- Analyse the communication skills and recommended strategies involved in breaking bad news.
- Demonstrate through simulated practice the breaking of bad news.
- Explore, through debriefing, the possible effects of Breaking Bad News on the professionals involved.
