To enhance the skills of participants in the breaking of bad news.

Learning Outcomes
  • Examine the subjective nature of bad news.
  • Discuss the role of the health care professional in the breaking bad news process.
  • Analyse the communication skills and recommended strategies involved in breaking bad news.
  • Demonstrate through simulated practice  the breaking of bad news.
  • Explore, through debriefing, the possible effects of Breaking Bad News on the professionals involved.
