Nutritional Management of Pancreatic Diseases


Purpose

To provide an overview of the nutritional management of pancreatic diseases.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme participants will be able to:

  • Describe and explain the pathophysiology of pancreatic disease and outline surgical management options.
  • Explain and apply principles of nutritional management for patients with acute pancreatitis.
  • Compare and apply nutritional management strategies for chronic pancreatitis and pancreatic exocrine insufficiency (PEI)
  • Differentiate and apply appropriate nutritional interventions for patients with PEI and pancreatic cancer
  • Explain and apply management approaches for type 3c diabetes in individuals with pancreatic disease.
  • Reflect on patient experiences to inform person-centred care approaches
