Seating & Posture for Complex Disability (Adults)


Purpose

The purpose of this Hybrid Training is to review, update and practice hands-on skills and best practices related to 24-hour postural care, pressure care and related function.

Learning Outcomes

At the end of this programme, participants will able to:

  • Demonstrate palpation of key anatomical landmarks to inform seating and lying support.
  • Explain the impact of bi-articular muscles on seated and supine posture.
  • Perform structured sitting and supine postural assessments using a standardised framework.
  • Measure key body dimensions and justify the use of hands-on assessment and international standards in seating decisions.
Audience

Occupational therapists who are involved with assessment and provision of seating for adults with complex needs.

Method

A hybrid programme beginning with 5 hours of pre-recorded virtual content, followed by 2 days of face to face hands-on training.
