Introduction to Psychosexual Medicine


Purpose

To develop participants’ foundational knowledge of psychosexual dysfunction, enabling them to apply psychosexual medicine principles, assessment approaches, and evidence-informed management strategies within their day-to-day clinical practice.

Learning Outcomes

By the end of the programme, participants will be able to:

  • Describe the biopsychosocial factors that influence psychosexual health and sexual dysfunction.
  • Explain the key principles and approaches used in psychosexual medicine, including the importance of the therapeutic relationship.
  • Apply effective communication and assessment skills when exploring psychosexual concerns within clinical consultations.
  • Analyse psychosexual presentations to identify appropriate management strategies, referral pathways, and sources of support
Audience

Physiotherapists working in a pelvic health setting.

Method

The course consists of 12 hours divided into three 4-hour sessions with a focus on case-based discussion.
