Growth Monitoring: Growth Charts (UK-WHO) 0-4 Years for Senior Child Health Assistants


Purpose

To introduce participants to the knowledge and skills to safely undertake accurate measuring, plotting, recording and reporting of growth in infants and children using the UK – WHO Growth Charts.

Learning Outcomes
  • Discuss the legal and professional issues associated with undertaking growth monitoring and observation of the infant / child.
  • Consider the physical and psychological comfort of the infant / child.
  • Gain an understanding of healthy growth patterns in children
  • Discuss the procedures for measuring, plotting and recording growth using UK – WHO Growth Charts.
  • Consider when to report concerns & the importance of prompt reporting
  • Have had the opportunity for simulated practice for measuring, plotting and recording on UK – WHO Growth Charts.
  • Support the delivery of the Regional Guidance and Standards for Community Nurses & Midwives on the DHSSPS Child Measurement Programme (2015).
