Perinatal Mental Health: 1 Day Programme


Purpose

To provide participants with an overview of evidence-based research and practice related to identification, management and early intervention of mental health conditions in the perinatal period.

Learning Outcomes
  • Consider the recommendations of strategic drivers including the MBRACE reports and their application to person centred care
  • Develop an understanding of the signs and symptoms of conditions associated with the deterioration of mental health during the perinatal period and consider potential treatment options available.
  • Identify skills to respond to mothers who express suicidal ideation
  • Develop an understanding of the possible impact of perinatal mental illness on infant/ child and family relationships
  • Review the use of screening tools in accordance with antenatal and postnatal mental health NICE clinical guidelines.
